About Redtail Mountain Vineyards
The love for winemaking and viticulture dates back decades in the Taylor Family beginning in Bordeaux, France. On a detour in his study abroad program at UCF, Brad worked the thrill of the 1976 harvest at Chateau Saint-Pierre, trading housing for his labors in the vineyard and production facility of Chateau Saint- Pierre. Fast forward thirty years later Brad and Kim began to lay out their vision for their own estate vineyard with the help of family: Justin and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Ann, and Kyle and daughter-in-law Davie.
The Taylor Family has owned the land that Redtail Mountain Vineyard is located on for 30 years. Brad and Kim Taylor along with their two sons, Justin and Kyle fell in love with this beautiful piece of property in the Coosa Valley. We took raw land and created a beautiful Vineyard with hard work and long days. The Vineyard has been home to several families of hawks which provide us beauty and entertainment while we work in the vineyard on the long summer days.
Out eldest son Justin wanted to plant grapevines as a 2 year beta test in 2010 and the rest is history. With our sons help and support we have managed the vineyard for the last 11 years. Justin went on to become an award-winning wine maker in Western North Carolina and is a graduate of both Georgia State University and Surrey College. He holds degrees in Real Estate, Viticulture, and Enology. Justin has been kind enough to make our wines over the last several years and is instrumental in all areas of production and advising with vineyard management. Kyle has a degree in Finance from Florida State University and enjoys participating in every vineyard harvest. He helps with the operational projects during his free time, and is extremely helpful with advising on the technical aspects of our business.
